Dr Yamuna is a Newport local who moved here 2 years ago after living for nearly 30 years in Canberra. She is taking new patients and is looking forward to servicing the local community.

Dr Yamuna was born and educated in Sri-Lanka but received her medical degree from the Vinnitsa Medical University in the Ukraine. She has travelled widely and speaks 3 languages- English, Sinhalese and Russian. After migrating to Australia in 1996 she completed her PhD in Muscle physiology attached to the Australian National University, Canberra. Hence, she has a strong interest in medical research and education. Yamuna has two daughters and enjoys stand-up paddleboarding, hiking and fish keeping during her free time.

Dr Yamuna enjoys all aspects of General practice but has special interests in:

• Women’s Health including Mirena insertions, Implanon insertions, contraception advise and menopause

• Antenatal Care (Pregnancy planning, share care and post-natal care)

• Weight-loss management

• Paediatrics (Children’s health)
