At Majellan Medical Centre, we’ve been part of the Scarborough community since the 1980s. While our building’s heritage has a lot of stories to tell, we know that providing top-tier medical care means constantly looking forward.
We recently asked for your honest feedback through our 2026 Patient Survey, and you didn't hold back! We’ve spent the last few weeks analysing every comment, and we’re excited to share how we’re turning your voices into real changes at the clinic.
The Good News: Trust & Care
First, we want to say a huge thank you for the incredible trust you place in our team. We were heartened to see that the vast majority of you rate our clinical care and communication as "Excellent." Many of you mentioned that you value our clinicians for being thorough and for truly listening.
Whether you’ve been coming to us since we opened in the 80s or you're one of the patients who travels three hours just to keep seeing your preferred GP, we appreciate your loyalty.
We Listened: Here’s What’s Changing
We know there are areas where we can do better. Here is our "Roadmap" based directly on your suggestions:
1. More Appointments, When You Need Them
We heard that it was getting a little too difficult to see a doctor quickly. Since February 2026, we have increased our clinical capacity by welcoming new Registrar Doctors to the team.
The results are already visible: we now have many same-day appointments available for urgent matters. While some of our long-standing, "popular" doctors have longer wait times, please keep in mind that they have closed their books to new patients so they can focus entirely on providing quality care to their existing patient base.
2. Managing the Wait (and the Tech)
Nobody likes a mystery wait. We are empowering our reception team to strive for better communication regarding delays.
Pro Tip: Next time you visit, use our Self-Check-In system. It doesn't just save time; it now lets you see exactly where you are in the queue.
3. Stepping into the Digital Future
We are committed to evolving our services to better suit your busy schedules. Our team is currently working behind the scenes to review our digital systems, looking into more convenient ways for you to request repeat scripts and referrals online to save you a phone call. We want to ensure that managing your routine health needs is as seamless as possible.
4. A Fresh Look for a Classic Clinic
We love our 1980s heritage, but we know the waiting room needed a bit of a refresh. We’ve already begun making functional updates to our space. Our goal is to keep the "Majellan charm" while ensuring the clinic feels modern, clean, and comfortable for everyone.
5. Transparency in Billing
We understand that cost-of-living and medical fees are a major concern. To be clear: Medicare rebates simply haven't kept pace with the cost of running a high-quality medical practice. To ensure we never have to compromise on the thoroughness of your care, we must maintain our current billing structure.
To help you plan your visits with "no surprises," we are currently updating our website and in-clinic signage to be even clearer about our fee structure and any out-of-pocket costs.
